Over Hans Klok

How it all began

Hans Klok is one of the best illusionist in the world and is known as “The world’s fastests magician”.

On his tenth birthday Hans Klok was given a magic box, which is when he started performing his magic tricks at friend’s birthdayparties. Four years later, when he was fourteen, Hans became Dutch and European Youthchampion in Magic and he won the ‘Wenegini Award’. This was the start of his, still very successful, carreer.

Since the nineties Hans travels the world with his shows. He had his breakthrough in the Netherlands with his own show in themepark Duinrell and his guest performance on the André van Duin Show in 1993. These are followed by performance in the ‘Dinershow”, (international) television shows (The World’s Greatest Magic) and his own theatre shows.

Recent years

Hans’ father, Klaas Klok, passes away at the beginning of 2002. He was the driving force behind Hans’ company. His brother Wouter takes over his fathers duties.

In the summer of 2002 Hans has his own show in the new Efteling Theatre. This is followed by a European tour called ‘History of Magic’.

At the start of 2005 Hans sells out three shows in Ahoy, Rotterdam, an idea from brother Wouter. These shows lead to meetings with producer Joop van den Ende, who, in 2006, founds Stage Entertainment Magic. Hans gets his own show in Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip for a period of 6 months in 2007. One of his assistants is none other than Pamela Anderson.

During the live  broadcast of the World Cup soccer raffle in 2005, Hans is invited to make the cup magically appear. The broadcast is watched by millions all around the world.

Back in the Netherlands Hans begins his cooperation with Stardust Circus International, the company of producers Henk van der Meijden and Monica Strotmann. With Hans  theatre shows Hurricane, Magie der Weihnacht, The Houdini Experience and The New Houdini are produced. These bring him to all the big theatres in the Netherlands, Germany and Austria.

The Houdini Experience had its premiere at The Peacock Theatre on Londons West End on February 23rd 2012. A year later Hans broke the world record, that was already in his name, by performing 15 illusions in 5 minutes on French television show Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde.

Hans Klok is the first illusionist to ever be invited to perform at the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo in January of 2014. His act is awarded with one of the Oscars of the circus world: the Silver Clown. A great honor for Hans and his team.

In 2014 The New Houdini toured the Netherlands for the last time, after which Hans traveled to Hannover, Germany in December, to perform in his very own ‘Illusionen Palast’. After his time in Hannover the show went on to tour the rest of Germany. In 2016 Hans Klok premiered his new spectacular show: Hans Klok’s House of Horror in Royal Theatre Carré on August 18, followed by a Dutch tour. Both the press and the audience loved the new show, so much so that it will return to Dutch theatres in 2017, after which a tour in Germany and Austria is planned.
